In the North East/Midlantic region, our most universally appealing home staging style is Pottery Barn. We do Potter Barn with a Neiman Marcus twist for high end, and PB as interpreted by Walmart for less expensive properties. Rather than reinvent the wheel, we all take advantage of the pervasive and expensive surveys and research Pottery Barn does and spin accordingly.
So it was with great interest that I thumbed through the Fall Preview catalogue and saw --

that we'll be doing Summer all Fall. Or so it seems to me. There's a very nice pale blue with orange accents that I can't help but rather like at the moment (since it's the colors of my new logo!!)
Unless, you all think that maybe, of the various colors they will be presenting, they're showing the summer side of it now, since it's not even July 15th yet?

What do you all think? I must say that I once did a family room in baby blue and confederate red and it was hugely well received. And the house got multiple offers... <sigh> those were the days, eh?

Juliet:
Thanks for the update. I love the colors and the use of them even just in the pillows.
I've never used blue and red together for a room, but anxious to try it soon.
Joyce
Thanks for linking to the PB . In Vancouver, we only have one small Pottery Barn and every time I visit the States, it is one of my first stops. I love the color combo. From the first days of design classes we learned complimentary colors work!
I did a classroom at UBC, Suader School of Business, EMBA Program in the orange tones with a few blue accents. This got amazing reviews from the students, all professionals in their fields. They loved the feel and the fact that it did not feel like a traditional classroom environment.
Juliet, like your style. Pottery Barn is a great resource - and I love the "as intrepreted by Walmart" comment. Steve
Hello Juliet, good to hear from you. Looking at the colors and patterns it reminds of the old adage that "what's old becomes new again".
Juliet ~ I think that orange, and its variations, seem to be popular right now. I see it quite a bit in the decorating magazines, so I'm not surprised to see it in Pottery Barn's pillows. Although that one pillow (third down on the right) makes me think I had a shirt just like that when I was a kid, so Gary may be right about what's old being new again!
I love the new 'fall' colours' as interpreted by Potery Barn. They'll really work well for us on the dreary grey winter days of the West Coast! Thanks for showing us a preview, Juliet.

I know it is kind of generic but I'd love to live in a PB world...
It seems we are to be doing strongly contrasting colors for another season, for sure! there's a yellow and brown that are very acidic in tone - not sure what that says about our national sensiblity...
I agree, Maureen, I think my house would be a lot simpler and easier to run if all the British antiques were replaced with the clean simplicity of PB>
We all get grey, Wendy, not just you guys on the West Coast. At least you don't get freezing cold ice and snow!
Kathy - yeah, I remember those shirts! And I think an airline made their stews wear them, too! the bold florals look to me like a nod back to Maria Buatta and the English chintz look... which feels very un-PB to me, but why not? Always a rich look!
A whole classroom in those colors? Wow, talk about stimulating creativity... it must have been awesome!! Kudos, Lisa. Any photos?
Joyce, too, let's see photos when you give a whirl!
Gary, if everything's old is new again how come my upcoming mid-life turning point (aka 50th birthday) isn't making me fee so new... at all!!
Love that new green, and the driftwood tones...personally, I can't wait for fall! Julie
I love Pottery Barn, we have one in Toronto. I hope those summer colours carry through to the Fall. We had such a horrible Spring here that it would be nice to see our Summer extended. Blue and orange eh? I really like that colour combination - great colours for a logo - They'd look really interesting in throw cushions on a chocolate brown couch too!
OMG, yum!!! the coco-velvet ot micro-suede sofa ---- yea, yeah, ueah. Luv it!
On a totally unrelated side note... can I just be "bold, vibrant, casual and unique..." does Life really require much more of us?
So true Juliet. Those all sound like pretty good ingredients for a well rounded, interesting person. Just add humour and stir.
